Bullying is a serious problem that often occurs in the learning environment. Why does it happen? There are many reasons: lack of empathy, misunderstanding, conflict, or a desire to dominate others. Bullying harms the entire team. That is why it is important to know how to counteract it and create a safe environment for learning and development.
Bullying is characterized by systematic aggressive actions that may include:
- physical violence;
- insults and humiliation;
- intimidation or spreading rumors;
- social exclusion;
- use of electronic communications for harassment (cyberbullying).
If you are a victim of bullying or witness bullying, it is important to act immediately!
- Tell an adult. Tell a counselor, teacher, or parent about the situation.
- Do not remain silent. Ignoring the problem only makes the situation worse.
- Enlist support. Contact a psychologist or specialist who can help you find a solution.
- Stand up for your rights. Bullying is a violation of the law, and such actions are subject to legal liability.
A culture of mutual respect, support and empathy is the basis for creating a safe environment. OPTIMA Distance College holds regular events aimed at promoting the principles of tolerance and ethical behavior.
Work to prevent bullying in college
In September-October 2024, the curators of academic groups organized a series of thematic meetings with students. The conversations addressed the main causes of bullying, such as lack of empathy and misunderstanding. Particular attention was paid to the consequences of bullying - emotional exhaustion, loss of motivation and psychological trauma.
In addition, the students learned about legal responsibility for bullying and the importance of adhering to ethical behavior.
The tutors encouraged students to cooperate in creating a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable and has the opportunity to develop. Only through mutual respect, support, and understanding can a harmonious educational environment be built that is conducive to everyone's success.
Together, we can prevent bullying and create conditions for the development and realization of each student's talents!
